Controguerra DOC is located in Abruzzo on the Adriatic coast of Italy.
Production zone: The communes of Controguerra, Torano Nuovo, Ancarano, Corropoli, and Colonnella in Teramo province (Abruzzo), and from vineyards no higher than 440 metres (1,443 feet).
Production: 2004 24 producers. 87ha. 3,010hl (ISMEA 2004).

Controguerra Bianco Frizzante DOC:
Controguerra Bianco Spumante DOC: From Trebbiano Toscano (60% min), and Chardonnay/Verdicchio/Pecorino (30% min), plus other local grapes
Controguerra Bianco DOC: A dry white from Trebbiano Toscano (60% min), and Passerina (15% min), plus other local grapes (25% max). Varietal (85% min): Chardonnay, Malvasia, Moscato Amabile, Passerina and Riesling are allowed.
Controguerra Bianco Passito DOC: A sweet white, from Trebbiano Toscano/Malvasia/Passerina (60% min), plus other local white grapes. Must be crushed between November 1 and March 31 of the following year. Wine aged in ‘caratelli’ for 30 months can be labelled ‘Annoso’.
Controguerra Rosso DOC: A dry red from Montepulciano (60% min), plus Merlot and/or Cabernet (15% min), plus other local grapes (25% max). Varietal (85% min): Cabernet, Ciliegiolo, Merlot, and Pinot Nero are allowed.
Controguerra Rosso Novello DOC: A dry red, 30% of the grapes must undergo carbonic maceration.
Controguerra Rosso Riserva DOC: A dry red.
Controguerra Rosso Passito DOC: A sweet red from Montepulciano (60% min).
