Slovakia, or the Slovak Republic is a parliamentary democratic republic in Central Europe, formerly part of the Czechoslovakia. It is bordered by Poland to the north, Ukraine to the east, Hungary to the south, Austria to the west, and the Czech Republic to the northwest. It joined the European Union on 1st May 2004, the Eurozone in 2009, and the Schengen area in December 2007.

Organics: Slovakia’s accession into the EU in 2004 meant Slovakia was committed to increase the acreage of agricultural land for the implementation of organic farming. At the same time it was possible to draw farmers ́ subsidies for the establishment and functioning of organic production.
