Castelli di Grevepesa (‘CastelGreve’) is a co-operative winery in San Casciano in Val di Pesa in the Tuscany region of italy. Red wines include Chianti Classico DOCG and Chianti Colli Fiorentini DOCG. Sweet Vin Santo del Chianti Classico DOC wines are also made. The name Grevepesa means ‘between the Greve and Pesa rivers’.
Owner: An SCRL (cooperative).
Background: Gualtiero Armando Nunzi (who was in his eighties in 1990) bought his vineyards having been successful importing spices. In the 1960s he persuaded other local growers to pool resources and form this wine co-op, which was founded in 1968.
Size: 1989 174 members (‘soci’) with 724 hectares. | 2019 120 members (‘soci’) with vines in San Casciano in Val di Pesa, Greve in Chianti, and Barberino Val d’Elsa.
Sales: 2019 40 export markets.
Wines: Chianti Classico range includes Montefiridolfi, Sant’Angiolo (a single vineyard wine), Vigna Elisa, Lamole and Sant’Angiolo.
