Perugia is a commune which gives its name to Perugia province and is the capital city of the Umbria region of Italy. It was founded by the Etruscans. The town occupies the ridges of a hill, high above the valley of the Tiber (Tevere) river, not far from Lake Trasimeno.
History: The town was under Papal rule for centuries, during which time it acquired art and treasures from many of the greatest Middle Age and Renaissance names.
