Le Fraghe is an organic estate in Cavaion Veronese in Verona province in the Veneto region of Italy. It produces Veneto Bianco white wines, and Bardolino DOC pink and red wines.

Owner: Matilde Poggi. She was born in 1962, the third of six children. She has three daughters of her own. Her first harvest was in 1984. Before then the grapes were sold to another winery. “Even as a young child I remember hearing the conversations about vines and wine, and I can recall those Octobers, when we went right from school to harvesting the grapes,” she says.

Staff: Oen (2013) Federico Giotto.

Vineyards: 28 hectares. Mainly Corvina in Cavaion Veronese and Affi, in the heart of the Bardolino production zone. Monte Baldo rises to the north, Lake Garda provides a uniquely Mediterranean climate, and the Valdadige conveys cool winds from the north. 5,000 vines/ha. Guyot for Corvina and Rondinella, cordon for Garganega, Cabernet and Merlot. 190 metres. South facing. Moraine.

Organic certification: 2012 First vintage with full organic certification.
