Greco Nero is a red wine grape found in the Calabria region of Italy, a member of the often unrelated if like-sounding Greco group of varieties. Greco Nero has been documented in Calabria for thousands of years, where it is also called Maglioccone or Greca Niura (Ian D’Agata: 2014: p.61). Calling Greco Nero Magliocco or Marsiglia Nera (or Marsigliana) is wrong as these varieties are distinct (Ian D’Agata: 2014: p.61).
