Colli Berici DOC is a denomination for red and white wines from 28 communes in the Veneto region of north-eastern Italy. The DOC’s name derives from the Colli Berici or Berici Hills. They are located between Verona and Padova, south of the city of Vicenza in Vicenza province.

Production zone: The wines come from the communes of Albettone, Alonte, Altavilla Vicentina, Arcugnano, Barbarano Vicentino, Brendola, Castegnero, Grancona, Mossano, Nanto, Orgiano, San Germano dei Berici, Sovizzo, Villaga, and Zovencedo; and from part of the communes of Asigliano Veneto, Campiglia dei Berici, Creazzo, Longare, Lonigo, Montebello Vicentino, Montecchio Maggiore, Montegalda, Montegaldella, Monteviale, Sarego, Sossano and Vicenza.

Wine grapes: Permitted varieties include Garganego/a, Pinot bianco, Pinot nero, Pinot grigio, Chardonnay, Manzoni bianco, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère, Merlot.

Wines

Colli Berici spumante: Traditional method sparkling white, rosato or rosé.

Colli Berici bianco: Still white. Also in semi-sparkling (‘frizzante’), fully sparkling (‘spumante’) and passito versions.

Colli Berici rosso: Still red. Also in reserve and novello versions.

Colli Berici varietal wines: Named varieties must comprise 85-100% of the blend. They include Garganega, Tai, Sauvignon, Pinot bianco, Pinot nero, Pinot grigio, Chardonnay, Manzoni BiancoTai Rosso (also in sparkling and reserve version versions), Merlot (also in reserve version), Cabernet (also in reserve version), Cabernet Sauvignon (also in reserve version), Cabernet franc (also in reserve version), Carmenère (also in reserve version).

Colli Berici Barbarano sub-area: Barbarano rosso or Colli Berici Barbarano from the Berici sub-zone can only be made as either Spumante or Riserva.
