Colli Altoberini DOC is a denomination for still wines of all three colours in the Province of Perugia in central-northern part of the Umbria region of central Italy. The DOC dates from 1980 and was revised in 2005. The name refers to the Colli Altotiberini or Upper Tiber Hills. The wine traditions of the area date to the Romans (the vineyards are mentioned with admiration by Pliny the Elder), and before that the Etruscans.

Terroir: Soft hills. The hills referred to are the hills of the central Apennines that dominate the geography of nearby Abruzzo, Marche and Lazio. This crest of hills extends north-south for about 40 km, following the course of the Tiber River.

Colli Altoberini DOC Bianco: 50-100% Trebbiano, 0.50% other authorised grapes. A Superiore version is permitted. Grechetto and Trebbiano varietal wines are permitted.
Colli Altoberini DOC Bianco
Colli Altoberini DOC Rosato: Sangiovese-based.
Colli Altoberini DOC Rosso: Sangiovese-based. A Novello version is allowed. Can also be made as a Riserva if from lower grape yields. The Riserva must age 24 months before release. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese reds can be bottled as varietal wines.
