Chianti Rùfina DOCG from Dicomano in the north to Colognole in Pontassieve to the south comprises a northern and southern sector says Dr Ian d’Agata (2019: p.285). The cooler, narrower northern half is influenced by the Sieve river and experiences a long growing season with very late grape ripening. Elevations can reach 700 metres (2,296 feet). Annual rainfall can reach 90mm (55 inches).

Wine style: ‘These can be the most lithe and refined Sangiovese wines in Tuscany,’ says Dr Ian d’Agata (2019: p.285).
