Château Barrabaque is an estate in the commune of Fronsac on the right bank of the Bordeaux region and midway between Fronsac and St Michel de Fronsac. Overlooking the Dordogne from the hill above Fronsac, Barrabaque produces red wines under the Canon Fronsac AOC.

Owner: Nicole Noël. Château Barrabaque was purchased by the Noël family in 1936 (a vintage marked by downy mildew) from the Crabit family, in whose hands it had been for a century.

Vineyards: 9ha. Cabernet Franc: 30%. Cabernet Sauvignon: 10%. Merlot: 60%. North-west of Fronsac on mid-côte (David Peppercorn MW (1991, p.554), including some of the finest plots in the Canon Fronsac AOC. In a valley whose sides comprise molasse du Fronsadais whilst the valley floor comprises an eroded starfish limestone (‘calcaire à astéries‘) plateau.

Winemaking: Gilles Pauquet was the consultant for many years.
