Fattoria Casa Sola is an estate winery and agritourism in Fraz. Cortine in Barberino Val d’Elsa, now Barberino Tavarnelle, in the Chianti Classico region of Tuscany, Italy. It produces Chianti Classico DOCG red wines and Vin Santo del Chianti Classico DOC.

Chianti Classico DOCG, Casa Sola: 2009 90% Sangiovese, 4% Canaiolo, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon. Smoky nose, with dust too, but the palate is crisper, and crunchy, with good weight and nice bright fruit, commendable lower key wine (DWWA 2013). | 2015 90% Sangiovese, 4% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Canaiolo, 2% Merlot. | 2016 A bit too ‘made’, light cherry, a bit thin, slightly dry tannin (Anteprima 2019). | 2018 90% Sangiovese, 4% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Canaiolo, 2% Merlot. Fruit obscured by oak (Anteprima 2022).

Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva, Fattoria Casa Sola: 2008 90% Sangiovese, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Merlot. £15-29.99. Rich, broad and very ripe, rich and cedary, I like it, not inelegant and a good fireside wine (Bronze, DWWA 2013). | 2014 100% Sangiovese. | 2015 90% Sangiovese, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Merlot. | 2016 90% Sangiovese, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Merlot.

Chianti Classico DOCG Gran Selezione, Fattoria Casa Sola: 2014 100% Sangiovese. | 2016 100% Sangiovese.

Toscana Rosso, Montarsiccio: 2007 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 10% Sangiovese. Deep, ripe Porty nose, with plenty of ripe sweet fruit on the palate, quite big, muscular and old-fashioned but an effective bruiser (Silver, DWWA 2013).

Vin Santo del Chianti Classico DOC, Casa Sola: 2001 Bottled. | 2005 60% Malvasia, 40% Trebbiano. 3,000 bottles produced. | 2006 60% Malvasia, 40% Trebbiano.

Other activities: Agritourism: Two former farmhouses (‘poderi’) called Montarsiccio and Ticciaia which face each other on opposite hills for rent.
