Marchesi Antinori has been run by the Antinori family since 1385. Its wines include Vin Santo del Chianti Classico DOC.

Visitor centre: Opened August 2013. 20km from Florence. New winery designed by Marco Casamonti. Most of the winery lies underground. The barrel cellar with a terracotta structure was designed to allow the wines to age under ideal climatic conditions. An iron spine to the building gives the impression the floor is actually suspended above the foundation. Wine museum. Bookshop. Art collection. Wine bar. Guided tours hourly, for a fee. IGT Toscana Rosso, Santa Cristina: 2003 Said to be mainly Sangiovese with a bit of Merlot. A bit bland, tastes a bit grubby, bottle variation too, ranging from soft Sicilian-style to weedy northern Italian when tried in Siena at a restaurant on Friday 3rd Dec 2004 and again in Via San Quirico with Marcel on Monday 6th Dec 2004.
Solaia: Antinori say that the sunniest part of their Tenuta Tignanello hillside is home to the Solaia vineyard, ‘the very best grapes from the very best vineyard…the finest Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Sangiovese grapes from its namesake vineyard).
