Wawern is a municipality in the Trier-Saarburg district, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It lies on the left bank of the Saar river in the Saar region of Germany, and was one of the region’s most famous wine villages a century ago (Stuart Pigott: 1995, p.35).
