Vittorio Fiore is a consultant working in Tuscany and elsewhere in his native Italy. His own estate Podere Poggio Scalette is located in Greve in Chianti in the Chianti Classico DOCG. See also Fattoria di Terrabianca.
CV:1941: Born at Fortezza (Alto Adige) in 1941. This is close to the Austrian border but his father, who was a member of the Financial Police was Milanese-Sicilian. In 1955: Fiore enrolled at the agricultural college in Trentino Alto Adige, San Michele all’Adige. In 1957 he moved to a four year course at Italy’s leading oenological institute in Conegliano, northern Veneto.
In1961 he took on jobs in the wine industry in Italy’s north, often in very industrial wineries. Fiore spent a brief period in Malta working with grape musts intended for ‘British Wine’.
In 1970 Fiore was appointed Director of the Associazione Enotecnici Italiani (AEI). Unpaid, but allows him to consult on the side and grounds him in the juridicial, legislative and organisation side of wine as an educator, organizing courses on tasting and wine knowledge.In 1978: Leaves his post as Director of the Associazione Enotecnici Italiani (AEI).
1978-1990: Member of the Directive Council of the Union Internationale des Oenologues where he was invloved in establishing international standards for wine assessment and serving. This allowed him to travel extensively.
1978: Consulted in Tuscany, begining with Fattoria Le Bocce, then from 1979 went freelance as a consultant. An early client was Caparzo in Montalcino. In 1991 he acquired his own estate, Podere Poggio Scalette in Greve in Chianti.
