Ticino is an Italian-speaking canton in Switzerland, the country’s the most southerly wine region, overlooking the Italian regions of Lombardy (‘Lombardia’) and Piedmont (‘Piemonte’) in Italy.

White wines: Whites made from Merlot Blanc have ‘a local following’ (Oz Clarke, 2015, p.260).
Red wines: Merlot-dominated, ‘usually soft and gluggable, more serious with some oak barrel-ageing’ (Oz Clarke, 2015, p260).
