The Sangro River in eastern central Italy was known in ancient times as Sagrus, from the Greek Sagros or Isagros, Ισαγρος. It rises in the middle of Abruzzo National Park near Pescasseroli in the Apennine Mountains in the Abruzzo region of Italy.
