San Fabiano Calcinaia is an organic estate in Località Cellole in Castellina in Chianti in the south western part of the Chianti Classico DOCG in Tuscany. Chianti Classico DOCG red wines are made, plus a sweet Vin Santo del Chianti Classico DOC.

Owner: Guido Serio (+39 348 8874591). Guido Serio and his wife Isa arrived at San Fabiano in 1983 and invested in producing quality wines.

Staff: Consultant oenologist: Carlo Ferrini. Manager: Rocco Giorgio.

Vineyards: 165 hectares in total across two estates. Well sited vineyards. Sangiovese in the San Fabiano vineyard is at 250 metres.

Certification: 2014 First vintage with full organic certification.

Chianti Classico DOCG, San Fabiano Calcinaia: 2010 85% Sangiovese, 8% Colorino, 7% Merlot. Ripe, deep black chocolate, opulent, modern oak and extractive style (Bronze, DWWA 2013). | 2016 90% Sangiovese, 5% each Canaiolo Nero and Malvasia Nera. Lovely colour (tank sample) and plenty of dark fruit (Anteprima 2018). | 2018 Fresh and well structured (Anteprima 2020). | 2019 90% Sangiovese5% each Colorino and Canaiolo. | 2020 Well made, textured (Anteprima 2022).

Chianti Classico DOCG Gran Selezione, Cellole: 2013 Bottled. | 2015 90% Sangiovese, 5% Canaiolo and Merlot.

Toscana Rosso IGT, Casa Boschino Rosso: An easy drinking red from 70% Sangiovese and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

Toscana Rosso IGT, Cerviolo Rosso: Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot.

Toscana Rosso IGT, Cabernet Sauvignon Rosso: Cabernet Sauvignon.

Sweet wines

Vin Santo del Chianti Classico DOC: 2006 25% each Malvasia del Chianti and Trebbiano Toscano, 50% Sangiovese. Small volumes. Lovely freshness (Anteprima 2020).
