Rhine or Rhein in German is a river described by The Economist (23rd Feb 2019, p.13) as ‘the world’s busiest waterway’. It runs around 760 miles from the Swiss Alps to the North Sea. The river–the second largest in central and western Europe after the Danube–lends it name to three German wine regions, Rheinpfalz, Rheingau and Rheinhessen.
