The Rheinhessen region is located on the Rhine (‘Rhein’) river between Mainz, Worms and Bingen in Germany. It is Germany’s largest wine-growing region.
Vineyards: 2018 70% white. Mainly Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Muller-Thurgau and Silvaner. Dornfelder and Pinot Noir are the main red wine grapes.
Towns: The key vineyards overlook the Rhine in the villages of Bodenheim, Nackenheim, Nierstein and Oppenheim, and at Bingen to the north-west.
