Pünderich is a town in the northern part of the Mittel Mosel, near Briedel and Zell, in the Mosel region of Germany. Pünderich marks the point at which the Mosel makes its tightest loop (Stuart Pigott: 1995, p.48), the best view of which is from the Marienburg castle, with the river passing on either side. Administratively Pünderich is an Ortsgemeinde – a municipality belonging to a Verbandsgemeinde, a kind of collective municipality – in the Cochem-Zell district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde of Zell, whose seat is in the municipality of Zell an der Mosel.

Grosslage: Vom Heissen Stein (‘from the hot stone’).

Terroir: Hugh Johnson (1991, p.246) says ‘the steep slopes are dying away here, and Riesling sites are limited. Nonnengartern makes softy fruity Rieslings; the huge Marienburg lighter and more flowery wine.’

Vineyard sites: Pundericher Marienburg. | Pundericher Marienberg Fahrlay. | Pundericher Marienberg Fahrlay Terrassen. | Pundericher Marienberg Falkenlay. | Pundericher Marienburg Felsterrasse. | Pundericher Marienberg Raffes. | Pundericher Marienberg Rothenpfad.
