Caberlot, Toscana Rosso IGT:  Made from what “is thought to be a natural hybrid of Cabernet Franc and Merlot. [It] dates back to the first plantings by Wolf Rogosky in 1986 and quickly won a cult reputation following rave reviews and listings in top restaurants. But average annual production is still only 3,200 magnums and 150 double magnums, and with demand greatly outstripping supply, Wolf’s widow and son have been acquiring additional vineyards (the last two of five planted this year and in production from 2014), in the hope of gradually increasing volume…Amici del Caberlot [members will pay] a one-off membership fee of €25,000 ($36,000/£22,000), which will be devoted exclusively to the construction of the new winery [necessitated to cope with grapes from the new plantings,” (‘Rewards of Il Caberlot friendship’, World of Fine Wine 33 2011, p.44).
