Podere Cianfanelli is an organic winery in Greve-in-Chianti in the Chianti Classico DOCG region of Tuscany, Italy. As well as Chianti Classico, a Colli della Toscana Centrale Rosso IGT is also made.
Owner: David Cianfanelli sold his grapes until 2014 when he produced his first wines.
Staff: Consultant oen: Marco Chiellini (2018).
Vineyards: 2.5 hectares (acres). Sangiovese, plus Canaiolo, Malvasia Nera and Colorino. Clay and galestro soils. 350 metres.
Organic certification: 2016 First vintage with full organic certification.
Winemaking: Stainless steel. 1,000 litre French oak barrels made by Garbellotto.
Red wines
Chianti Classico DOCG, Cianfanello: 2014 Debut vintage. | 2015 100% Sangiovese. More obvious ripeness compared to the 2016 (Anteprima, 2019). | 2016 Bright, lots of fruit, youthful (Anteprima 2019). Nice richness and weight (Anteprima 2020). | 2017 Fermented in stainless steel, in steel for 6m. Then 6m in oak. Then another 6m in tank before bottling. Well structured (hot season) in terms of fruit & tannin (Anteprima 2020). | 2019 100% Sangiovese. 3,500 bottles.
Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva: 2015
Colli della Toscana Centrale Rosso IGT, Ritorno: 2018 43% Canaiolo nero, 37% Malvasia Nera, 20% Colorino del Valdarno. Nice mix of red and black fruit, savoury and clear (Anteprima 2020). | 2019 40% Malvasia Nera, 40% Canaiolo nero, 20% Colorino del Valdarno. 3,500 bottles.
