Napolini | Winery in the Montefalco region of Umbria, Italy. It produces Colli Martani Bianco DOC dry white wines and Montefalco Rosso DOC, Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG and Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG Passito red wines. A manuscript dated 1088 AD suggests vine growing was taking place at that time in the area in which Cantina Napolini is located.
Owners | The Napolini family, Matteo and Clara, who represent the first generation, plus their son Mario and his wife Tiziana Scattini. Clara follows the vineyard, Matteo the olive orchard, Mario is the oenologist and Tiziana handles the commercial side.
Vineyards | South-east facing hill site on the hill of Montefalco itself. The soil is clay-calcareous. 30ha of land, 18ha of which are vineyards. 4,000 vines/ha. Cordon. Also 5ha of olive groves. The remaining land is for cereal cultivation.
Winemaking | Hand picked. Stainless steel fermentation tanks. Red wines age in Slavonian oak vas and French oak barrels.
