Krems is a town and district in the Kremstal region (to which it gives its name) in the federal state of Lower Austria (Niederösterreich) in Austria, 43 miles (70km) west of the capital city of Vienna. Krems, or Krems an der Donau to give it its full name, is noted for its fine vineyard sites facing the Danube (Donau) river, and is linked by the smaller valley of the river Kamp to its northern neighbour, Langenlois (Hugh Johnson: 1991, p.418). The town has a wine producing co-operative, and an oenological and viticultural college. It also host the federal state Niederösterreich’s wine fair.
