Heissenstein is a. lieu-dit in the commune of Nothalten in the Bas-Rhin, Alsace.
Vineyard area: 10 hectares (24.7 acres).
Terroir: Tom Stevenson (1993, p.249-50) says this site combines an unfavourable cool north-east aspect with fortuitously stony, heat-retaining soils–Heissenstein translates as ‘hot stones’–making it suitable for early ripening varieties such as Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir.
Wineries
Certified Biodynamic: Julien Meyer.
