Gabriele Gorelli MW is a Member of the Institute of Masters of Wine, the first Italian to achieve this. He was born in Montalcino in 1984. His grandfather used to be the smallest Brunello di Montalcino producer, with just 0,46ha of vines. Gabriele wanted to work in wine too, and studied languages to that end. He worked as a sommelier and as an advertising graphic designer. In 2004 he co-founded a wine-oriented advertising agency, Brookshaw & Gorelli. He worked as a consultant to a number of Italian wineries and official regional wine grower bodies (consortiums or consorzi in Italian, the singular of which is consorzio). In 2015, Gabriele started studying to become a Master of Wine which he achieved in 2021. His dissertation was on Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG. In the same year (2015) he co-founded the KH Wines S.r.l. company which helps European wineries in export markets. Nowadays, KH Wines holds a significant number of custom-made products designed from scratch, from sensory profile, to packaging, to storytelling. In 2019, he became an ambassador for Italy at the ‘International Wine Challenge’ in London. In 2019 he created a wine in collaboration with Maurizio Castelli and the (organic) Badia a Coltibuono winery in Gaiole in Chianti.
