Fumat is a red grape variety native to Italy where it is grown in the Friuli Venezia-Giulia region. It takes its name either from the smoky-black colour of its berries or the slightly smoky aromas and flavors of the wine (most experts favor the latter hypothesis). Today it is found only in the hills of Spilimbergo (Pordenone).

Viticulture: Medium-small sized bunches, with small berries. It is characterized by good vigour and productivity (but with little juice production). Low resistance to oidium and peronospora (Downy mildew).
