Fattoria Wandanna is located in Montecarlo in Lucca province in north west Tuscany, Italy. It makes wine under the Montecarlo DOC and the Chianti Colli Senesi DOCG. The estate once belonged to the Gheradesca family I think.

Owner: Ivaldo Fantozzi and Giovanna Silvestri Fantozzi.

Consultants: 1993 Stefano Chioccioli.

Estate vineyards: 2005 Around 40ha of vines; mainly irrigated it seems.

Winery: Two cellars, one of which I saw and is like a warehouse with steel and wooden vats.

Sparkling wines

Clarente: Chardonnay, autocalve. Around 10.5% alcohol plus 10 g/l sugar and lightly sparkling.

White wines

Toscana Bianco IGT, Vermentino di Botrozio: 2004 Vermentino from tank, with the lees; bit light as very little flavour, and he says this is the first time he made it this way ie with the lees; light, not really very good.

Montecarlo Bianco AOC, Terre di Cascinieri: Trebbiano, Roussanne, Vermentino, Semillon, Sauvignon, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc.

Pink wines

Toscana Rosato IGT, Cerasello: Ciliegiolo.

Red wines

Montecarlo Rosso DOC: From Sangiovese, Malvasia nera, Ciliegiolo, Cabernet franc, Alicante Bouchet.

Montecarlo Rosso DOC, Terre di Cascinieri: A cru named after an old family who lived here – the Cascinieri. | 2004 10,000 bottles. Quite a thick colour, a cabernet style on the palate, but very light (Visit 2005).

Toscana Rosso IGT, Giovinezza Novello Rosso: Ciliegiolo.

Toscana Rosso IGT, Virente: 2004 Contains some Grenache Noir for the first time. Wooden vats and steel. A bit stinky (Visit 2005)

Chianti Colli Senesi DOCG, Le Cipresse: Ivaldo Fantozzi has owned since 1972 a fattoria called “Le Cipresse” in San Gimignano, località Pancone, at 300 metres. The grapes are vinified in the estate’s own cellar in San Gimignano.

Other crops: Olives 3,000 olive trees.
