Fattoria Svetoni is an estate in the Montepulciano region of Tuscany. It was founded as a ‘Leopoldina’, an ‘ideal farmhouse’ commissioned by Pietro Leopoldo, Grand Duke of Tuscany. This was built between the late 1700s into the mid-1800s. It has been producing wine since 1865. Its main wines are Chianti Colli Senesi DOCG, Rosso di Montepulciano DOC, and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOC, all of which are red, and a Vin Santo di Montepulciano DOC sweet white wine made from dried grapes.
Owner: Soc. Agr. Podere Rubino S.r.l., a consortium of three local families called Rossi (farmers), Omar Pellegrini (tyres) and Prencipe (agriculture). They bought it from Tenute Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari. Originally it was part of the Gracciano della Seta estate, but when this was divided, this part (without the house) went to Piera Mazzucchelli’s brother, and he later sold to Folonari.
Staff: Vineyards: Roberto da Frassini (Oen. and Agr.)
Vineyards: 26ha of land of which 20ha of vines in the Gracciano, Cervognano, Nottola, and Stazione di Montepulciano zones. 300-350m. In 2019 5ha were being replanted, with another 2ha being added.
