Fattoria di Bagnolo, the historic farm of the Bartolini Baldelli family is located in the municipality of Impruneta, on the hills overlooking Florence in the Colli Fiorentini (Florence Hills) in Tuscany. Chianti dei Colli Fiorentini DOCG and IGT Colli della Toscana Centrale red wines are made. There is also a Vin Santo del Chianti DOC Riserva.
Owner: Today the Fattoria di Bagnolo is always managed by the Bartolini Baldelli family and in particular by Giovanna assisted by her children Alberto, Margherita and Lorenzo, and by her brother Marco. The Baldelli family have 11th-century origins, originally from Cortona, becoming citizens of Florence in the 1500s. They acquired this estate in the 1800s under Bartolomeo, who was an advisor to Grand Duke Leopold II.

History: Dating back to 1419, when this estate was called “Al Fonte”, it was owned by the Machiavellis from 1458 to 1585. Around the first half of the 1800s it was bought by Bartolommeo Bartolini Baldelli who fell in love with the beauty of the landscape, and made it his residence summer and place of relaxation, and here he died in 1868.
Vineyards: The family has three estates:
– Fattoria di Scaletta in San Miniato whose grapes go to the Coop.
– Castello di Montozzi in Montozzi in Pergine Valdarno which is planted with olives (no vines).
– Fattoria di Bagnolo in Chianti Colli Fiorentini where there are 75 ha of land. Of this ten hectares are vines. 220m altitude. The main variety is Sangiovese, but other indigenous varieties such as Colorino, Canaiolo, Malvasia and Trebbiano are also cultivated as well as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The training system is mainly the single or bilateral spurred cordon for a better distribution of the bunches. 220 metres altitude. In a sunny and well-ventilated hilly position. The soils show a prevalence of alberese, with the presence of pietraforte, limestone and clay.
Winery: In the mid-2000s stainless steel for fermentation. Underground barrel room with stone arches. The aging in wood (mainly barriques and tonneaux) takes place in the historic cellar of the 15th century.

Red wines
Chianti dei Colli Fiorentini DOCG: 2003 Tanky, pressy nose, some Cabernet Sauvignon in this as plenty of colour and black fruit, sticky but simple (at Lanciola, 18th March 2005).
Chianti dei Colli Fiorentini DOCG Riserva: 2001 Rich Cabernet Sauvignon to bolster the Sangiovese, with thickish tannin, not the most elegant but crowd-pleasing without being too extracted (At Lanciola 18th March 2005). | 2010 90% Sangiovese, 20% Colorino. Fresh redcurrant nose, youthful, almost tanky, ripe berries, some herb, quite extracted, savoury with sweet fruit, decent length and a good crowdpleaser, if not overly complex, very attractive drinking (Silver, DWWA 3rd May 2013).
Toscana Rosso, Capro (Caprorosso): The flagship wine. | 2001 Sangiovese, Colorino, Cabernet Sauvignon. Slightly dusty nose; black berries and also some herbaceousness; unclean and very dry tannin (at Lanciola, 18th March 2005).
IGT Colli della Toscana Centrale: 2008 80% Sangiovese, 10% each Cabernet Sauvignon & Colorino. Succulent, juicy fruit backed up by warm oak, nice creamy depth of fruit/oak tannin (Commended: DWWA 2013).
Sweet wines
Vin Santo del Chianti DOC Riserva: 2001 Bottled. | 2004 Bottled.
Other activities: Over 6,300 olive trees (27ha). The main varieties are the Frantoio, the Morellino, the Leccino, the Pendolino and the Madonna di Impruneta, with which Extra Virgin Olive Oil is produced, both of the traditional type (with the different olive cultivars) and some single-variety varieties (Frantoio and Moraiolo). The olive harvest is done manually. Grappa, olive oil, marmellata di more, pasta di olive. Agritourism. Tasting and conference room; swimming pool.
