Pietraforte | A soil type typical of Panzano in Chianti in the Chianti Classico DOCG region of Tuscany. ‘Panzano’s bedrock is mainly a bioplastic shelf limestone that is hard and compact, with a high calcium carbonate content that was formed in the Cretaceous period (Carmignani et al, 2004). It was used historically as a building and load-bearing material,’ (Ian D’Agata, 2019, p280). Not to be confused with Pietra Serena.
