Colline Novaresi DOC is located in the Piemonte (‘Piedmont’) region of north west Italy. It gained DOC status in 1994. Varietal wines must comprise 85–100% of the stated variety. An early release novello style is permitted.
Production zone: 27 communes (of 80) in Novara) province. Colline Novaresi DOC overlaps the Fara and Boca DOCs, plus Ghemme DOCG. Colline Novaresi DOC’s vineyards overlap those of the DOCs Fara and Boca, as well as the Ghemme DOCG.
Wine grapes–reds: Spanna (aka Nebbiolo), plus supporting roles for Barbera, and Croatina (also known as Bonarda here), and Vespolina (r).
