Colcimino is an area in the commune of Bevagna in Perugia province, south of Bevagna itself, in the Montefalco region of Umbria. Its vineyards are found at 300-400m. Villa Mongalli is at 371m for example.
Terroir: Dr Ian D’Agata (Native Wine Grape Terroirs: 2019, p.268) describes the terrain as poor, mainly marly arenaceous soils that drain so well it means hydric stress is a risk, and ripening can be the earliest in the denomination. The best wines, D’Agata says, are especially elegant, but lesser wines appear stretched.
