Château Vrai Canon Bouché is located in Saint-Michel-de-Fronsac in the Fronsadais on the right bank of the Bordeaux region. Red wines are made under the Canon-Fronsac AOC.
Owner: Mmes S & Françoise Roux. Ernest Roux bought the estate in 1953. His grandson, Arnould Ouilé (Françoise Roux’s son), was running the estate in the 1990s.
Vineyards: 13ha. On the high plateau of the Canon-Fronsac AOC, the Tertre du Canon, overlooking the Dordogne river. Siliceous limestone, very stony, and on a sub-soil of ‘molasse de Fronsadais‘ and and rock.
Winery: Underground cellars hewn out of the limestone bed-rock (‘carrières de calcaire’) whose origins may date to the stone age.
