Château Cos d’Estournel (cos is pronounced ‘Coss’) is an estate in Saint Estèphe on the left bank of the Bordeaux region. It produces red wine under the Saint Estèphe AOC. Another Saint-Estèphe under the same ownership is Château de Marbuzet.
Owner: Michel Reybier. In 2008 he tried to acquire Napa estate Chateau Montelena but was unable to meet terms of the deal.
Classification: 1855 2nd Growth.
Vineyard: Slopes south towards Château Lafite in neighbouring Pauillac.
Winery: ‘A bizarre Chinoiserie chai’ (Hugh Johnson: Wine Companion: 1991, p.65).

Saint Estèphe AOC, Château Cos d’Estournel: Under the direction of Bruno Prats, Cos d’Estournel became one of the top 1855 second growths ‘with both the flesh and bone of great claret, a record for consistency, including very long life,’ (Hugh Johnson: Wine Companion: 1991, p.65).
