Château Canon (Horeau) is located in Saint-Michel-de-Fronsac in the Fronsadais on the right bank of the Bordeaux region. Red wines are made under the Canon-Fronsac AOC. It is considered one of the Fronsac region’s historic estates, part of whose vineyard once belonged to the Fontémoing family. The substantial restoration style (Second Empire) château was built in the 1850s. It once belonged to the family of the the painter (of animals) Princeteau. It was then inherited by the Delaage family. Just before the Second World War it was bought by Louis Horeau. It then passed to Henriette Horeau, his daughter who, along with the de Coninck family, own the Libourne-based merchants, Horeau Beylot & Cie.

Vineyards: 10ha. Two parts, both on slopes, on the north and south sides of the Côte de Canon, either side of Vray Canon Boyer,’ (David Peppercorn MW: 1991, p.554).
