CELLER COMUNICA is an estate winery in the town of Falset in the Montsant region of Spain.

OWNERS Pep Aguilar & Patri Morillo. Pep Aguilar also works as a consultant (eg. to Michelle Negron at Saó del Coster).

VINEYARDS / 2016 6.5 hectares (16.05 acres) of vines which are rented, not owned. Grenache, Carignan and Syrah. Mainly clay-limestone. Around 370 metres (1,214 feet) above sea level.

ORGANICS / 2016 Frédéric Duseigneur [see Domaine Duseigneur] consults (“but we don’t take all his advice”). Starting to work with animals in 2016.

ORGANIC CERTIFICATION / 2017 No, prefer to be ‘fristyle’. / 2016 No.

WINEMAKING The wines are vinified with indigenous yeasts and bottled without filtration or fining.

LA COMEDIA / 2014 60% Grenache Noir, 30% Carignan, 10% Tempranillo. Steel. Very fresh-tasting at the Real Wine Fair in Tobacco Dock 17-18th April 2016.

FRISTYLE / 2014 No added sufites. Fresh fruit then reduced eggy end at the Real Wine Fair in Tobacco Dock 17-18th April 2016.

LA PELUDA On dry river bed soil which is 1 metre deep, below which is granite begins. Pink and white quartz = dry river bed. 2014 Lovely fruit at the Real Wine Fair in Tobacco Dock 17-18th April 2016.

VINYA GORETTI / Red clay. Slate sediments. No granite. / 2013 100% Carignan Noir.
