Castello di Montauto is an estate winery in the San Gimignano region of Tuscany, Italy. Vernaccia di San Gimignano DOCG and DOCG Riserva whites are made.
Owner: Cecchi, a Tuscany-based merchant wine-growing family, acquired Castello di Montauto in 1989.
Vineyards: 82 hectares of land of which 33 hectares are vines. The vines in San Gimiganano are located in Località Montauto. 275 metres. The soil is sandy (Pliocene era). Experiments here with the University of Florence re clones of the Vernaccia di San Gimignano grape.
Organic certification: 2020 First vintage with full organic certification (pending).

Chardonnay, Sagrato: A Chardonnay cru for the international market from 1.8 hectares.
Vernaccia di San Gimignano DOCG, Castello Montauto (sic): The wines are labelled as Castello Montalto, without the ‘di’ for some reason. | 2018 100% steel. Easy, light quaffer (2019 Anteprima).
