Casole d’Elsa is a fortified village on a hill in the Val d’Elsa (Elsa Valley) in the west of Siena Province in Tuscany, Italy on the border with the Province of Grosseto where the territories of Volterra, Siena and Florence (‘Firenze’) meet. Casole d’Elsa was originally an Etruscan settlement. In the first half of the 13th century Casole d’Elsa came under the control of Siena.
