Brindisi, important port city in southern Italy on the Adriatic coast, on the Salento peninsula (the heel of the Italian boot) in the Puglia region with its own eponymous DOC. The town has a modern feel despite its ancient origins. It is located above an islet on the Adriatic coast between two bays which form the inside port, deemed to be one of the safest on the Adriatic coast.
