Basile is an organic estate winery in Cinigiano, Grosseto Province in the Montecucco DOC in south-west Tuscany, Italy.
Founder-owner: Giovan Battista Basile, his wife Ilaria and their two sons Antonio and Federico. Giovan Battista Basile purchased the land in 1999 which had been abandoned for 30 years. He comes from south Italy.

Terroir: Mostly South-West facing. Altitude varies between 330-380 metres above sea level. The soil is prevalently calcareous with the presence of galestro.
Vineyards: 34ha of land of which 8ha of vines, 12ha of other crops and 14ha woodland. The main wine grapes are Sangiovese and Merlot for red wine and Vermentino, Viognier and Petit Manseng for whites.
Certification: 1999 First vintage with full organic certification. | 2017 Still certified organic.
Winemaking: The grapes are hand picked. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks or French oak barrels.

Maremma Toscana DOC, Commandante: 50% Sangiovese and 50% Merlot.
Montecucco Sangiovese DOCG, Carta Canta: 90% Sangiovese and 10% Merlot.
Montecucco Sangiovese DOCG Riserva Ad Agio: The flagship wine. 100% Sangiovese.
