Azienda Agricola Cipriana is located in Castagneto Carducci on the Tyrrhenian coast of Tuscany. It makes wine under the Bolgheri DOC. Cipriana is the third wine estate to establish in the Bolgheri area. The first bottle of San Martino dates to 1978. The estate is located on the slopes of the medieval village of Castagneto Carducci.
Owners: The Fabiani brothers, winemakers since 1975.
Vineyards: 8 hectares. The vineyards are partly located near the winery, and partly on the via Bolgherese. Planting density is between 5,000–6,000 vines per hectare. Spurred cordon and guyot.
Olive groves: 3ha.
Winery: Entirely underground. Cement tanks. Temperature controlled.
White wines
IGT Toscana Bianco, Lunatico:
Bolgheri Vermentino DOC, Paguro: 2003 90% Vermentino, 10% Chardonnay. 1,000 bottles.
Pink wines
Bolgheri Rosato DOC, Peau D’Ange: The name translates as ‘angel skin’.

Bolgheri Rosso Superiore DOC, San Martino: This bears the name of Giosuè Carducci’s poetry. Now made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. | 2001 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 5% Syrah. 20,000 bottles. A nice light style, acid is a bit aggressive; but easy for early drinking and not wines which are monstrous (tasted at the Bolgheri wine route office on Tues 22 Feb 2005).
