4010 CASTEL is a Vitis riparia x V. rupestris hybrid used as a rootstock. It was developed in 1906 by Pierre Castel from V. riparia cv. Grand Glabre x Aramon Rupestris Ganzin 1. It has moderate tolerance to phylloxera, low tolerence to chlorosis (no more than 6% active limestone). It is vigorous and promotes early ripening.
