VINEYARDS–THE TERRACE VINEYARD | The Terrace Vineyard is where the current owners built their straw bale home and set up the winery and cellar door. The Terrace Vineyard is located 232 Ormond Valley Road, Ormond, Gisborne. The land was purchased in 2005 as bare grazing land. Cuttings were taken from local vineyards in 2003, and transplanted in 2005. The land holding here is just under 5 hectares (12.35 acres). The grape varieties are Gewurztraminer, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, and on north-facing land with very free draining soils which the owners terraced are Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot. The owners also planted 400 olive trees (Frantoio, J5, Picual, Manzanillo, Picholene and Barnea).

VINEYARDS–THE VALLEY VINEYARD | Located at 161 Ormond Valley Road, Ormond, Gisborne. This is in the Ormond Valley sub-region of Gisborne, Inorth of Gisborne and 500 metres from the Terrace Block, above. Planted with Chardonnay, Viognier, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and the oldest Gewurztraminer plantings in Gisborne, and some of the first in New Zealand. The size of the vineyard is just under 5 hectares (12.35 acres). The Valley Vineyard is located at the base of Ormond Valley. The Valley is surrounded with limestone hills, with extreme heat temperatures during the summer days and cooler than normal nights. These temperatures ensure rich wines, which are easily ripened in the vineyard, with the wines retaining the delicate acid, to achieve optimum balance. Previous owners of this vineyard were the Benson family, but it was first established by Ross Revington, a Gisborne lawyer and his wife Mary Jane in 1987 as the Revington Vineyard. The Revington Vineyard in known as the Grand Cru of vineyards from the Gisborne region. It lies on sandy loam. There are 5.5 hectares of Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, Viognier and Pinot Meunier (for sparkling wines).

VINEYARDS–THE COAST VINEYARD | 1093 Wharerata Road, Manutuke, Gisborne. 7 hectares (17.3 acres). This vineyard in the Manutuke sub-region of Gisborne was originally set up in the early 1980’s by the Thorpe family. With a sea breeze this vineyard remains a temperate climate year round. Chardonnay (1980s), Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Syrah (1980s) and Gewurztraminer. The vineyard benefits from afternoon sea breezes and warmer nights and has views of the local landmark, Young Nick’s Head. The buildings, once known as Whitecliffs Winery Café, now serne as Wrights Winery cellar door (a 15-minute drive from the Gisborne City.
