WEINGUT ALEXANDER GYSLER is a Biodynamic winery in the Wonnegau sub-region of Germany’s Rheinhessen region. Alexander Gysler took over here in the late 1990s and changed the wines from a somewhat fat style to something crisper and more streamlined.
VINEYARD | 12 hectares (29.6 acres) in Weinheim, western Rheinhessen. Main grape varieties: Riesling (30%), Silvaner, Huxelrebe, plus Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay. Also Scheurebe.
Vineyard sites (Einzellagen): Weinheimer Hölle (2010 Huxelrebe Beerenauslese had 160 g/l RS), Weinheimer Mandelberg and Weinheimer Kapellenberg.
SOIL TYPES | Rotliegand and mixtures of stone, loam and clay.
CERTIFICATION | 2007 Full Demeter Biodynamic certification for the first time. / 2016 Still Demeter-certified Biodynamic.
WINE PRODUCTION | 6,000 cases.
