VINA KOYLE is a Biodynamic estate winery funded in 2006. It is located in the Colchagua Valley of Chile.
STAFF / Winemaker Christóbal Undurraga Marimón [born 1979] (as in Spain, offspring sport both parent’s surnames), with his father Alfonso Undurraga Mackenna, former CEO of Viñas Undurraga, one of his brothers called Max Undarraga Marimón (born 1969 I think) and sister.
VINEYARDS / 2016 120 hectares of vines. On a 1,100 hectare property, in Los Lingues in the Alto Colchagua. Volcanic soils. The aim is to dry farm during the growing season. At Millésime Bio Jan 2016 I was told they were irrigating at the end of winter: 450mm minus what fell during the season. They also irrigate before veraison with 100mm. Tempranillo and Mourvèdre are not irrigated.
ORGANICS / René Piamonte consulted.
CERTIFICATION / Has been organic and biodynamic since inception. / 2008 Organic conversion began. / 2011 First vintage with full organic certification. / 2012 First vintage with full Demeter Biodynamic certification.
