VIGNO is the name of an initiative in the Maule Valley region of Chile to promote the Carignan noir variety. Wines bearing the VIGNO trademark must be made from a minimum of 65% Carignan noir vines with at least 30 years of age or vines top-grafted on País vines with 30 or more years of age. Other red wine varieties must be traditional (old-vine) varieties from the Maule Secano Interior zone. Vines must be dry farmed (no irrigation). Wines must age for a minimum 24 months before release, oak-ageing optional. All vines must come from the Maule Secano Interior.
