Tracolle is a winery in Tavarnelle Val di Pesa in the Chianti Classico DOCG of Tuscany, Italy.
Owner: The domaine belonged to the Abbey (‘badia’) of Passignano. In 1985 the Broggi family (Anita Broggi) bought it. They put the estate up for sale in Easter 2005.
Staff: Manager: Ernst Thomann (Born in South Africa, speaks English, Swiss citizen, married an Italian).
Vineyards: 2.6ha of Sangiovese, Malvasia, Trebbiano Toscano. 2,750 vines/ha and trained 1.7m high. Vines planted in 1971 and 1983 at 350-500m on two sites.
Viticulture: Fungals are treated with copper sulphate, sulphur, algae, and BT.
Organic Certification: 1988 First vintage with full organic certification.
Pink wines
Rosato: 1998 Colli della Toscana Centrale Rosato IGT. Debut vintage.
Red wines
Chianti Classico DOCG, Tracolle: 1997 Thick, ripe style of fruit. | 1998 Drought-affected vintage.
Other crops: 7.4ha of olives (affected by frost in December 1996). 5ha of pasture and 47ha of woodland.
