Tenuta La Fuga is an estate winery in the Camigliano area in the west of the Montalcino region in Tuscany, Italy. Its main wines are the Rosso di Montalcino DOC and Brunello di Montalcino DOCG reds. It was was founded in 1985 by Gabriella Cristofolini and her husband. They sold it in 2001 to Tenute Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari (Ambrogio Folonari and his son Giovanni via Giovanni Folonari’s mother and aunt, the two sisters or ‘due sorelle’ in Italian who are honoured in the name of the Riserva wine, below).

Vineyards: Tenuta La Fuga lies oppsite the Castelgiocondo estate. 8ha of vines plus 2ha of other land in the Camigliano sub-zone. Around 260–350 metres above sea level. Full southeast exposures. Loamy clay soil, spiked with rocky fragments. 5,500 vines/ha.

Rosso di Montalcino DOC: 2011 At the consorzio with Ian d’Agata Tuesday 28th May 2013: Slightly pressy and dumb, just out of tank perhaps but with just enough red cherry, raspberry fruit. | 2012 8,000 bottles. Bit over-extracted and green for a Rosso (Anteprima 2014). | 2013 4,000 bottles. | 2018 6,000 bottles.
Brunello di Montalcino DOCG: 2000 Dry, sweetish, porty at (Anteprima 2005). | 2009 20,000 bottles. OK, bit metallic, dry tannin, and ripe fruit, bit fluid too, bog standard (Anteprima 2014). | 2009 15%. L13212. Ripe black fruit. Simple and chewy/ripe/mint/berries. Primary almost at the Consorzio Tues 27th May 2014 with Ian d’Agata and others. | 2010 30,000 bottles. Fluid middle, firmer end, simple (Anteprima 2015). | 2011 Nice perfume, a little bit light and stretched, but plenty of ripeness, very drinkable (Anteprima 2016). | 2015 20,000 bottles.
Brunello DI di Montalcino DOCG Riserva Due Sorelle: From a vineyard named after Giovanni Folonari’s mother and aunt. | 2000 Aged in French tonneaux. | 2004 Bottled. | 2006 Bottled. | 2007 Not made. | 2008 Not made. | 2009 7,500 botttles. Sweet and simple and a bit high tone (Anteprima 2014). | 2010 Fruit and barrel oak, very sweet, pleasurable if simple vanilla red fruit (Anteprima 2016).
