Tenuta Crocedimezzo is an estate winery in Località La Croce in Montalcino in Tuscany, Italy. It was founded in 1971. Its main wines are Rosso di Montalcino DOC and Brunello di Montalcino DOCG. A Sant’Antimo Rosso DOC is also made.

Estate vineyards: South east of the town of Montalcino at Località La Croce, between Biondi-Santi to the north-west and Fattoria dei Barbi to the south-east. Until 2010 there were 11ha of vines, but because the bank was reacting to the financial crisis by calling in loans, and the owners’ newly constructed winery had been financed with the bank’s help, they had to sell 6.5ha of vineyards. This left 4.5ha of vines on a 40ha property (see other crops for details of how this is divided up).

Sant’Antimo Rosso DOC, Tenuta Crocedimezzo:

Rosso di Montalcino DOC, Tenuta Crocedimezzo: 2012 7,000 bottles. Very soft and plump, simple but well done, no rough edges (Anteprima2014). | 2013 7,600 bottles. 10 months in botti. Well done, very drinkable, bright and simple (Anteprima 2015). | 2018 6,400 bottles.

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, Tenuta Crocedimezzo: At the Anteprima 2015 I was told the same wine was sold under the “Nannetti” label for a distributor in Trento called Mezzacorona. | 2000 Bit dry, simple and light, not bad (Anteprima 2005). | 2009 13,000 bottles. Nice if lacking a little freshness (Anteprima 2014). | 2010 20,000 bottles. 30 months in 500-litre Allier tonneaux from Mittelberger in Bozen (Bolzano) and 25-30hl botti (Allier and Slavonian oak). Sweet fruit, bit of oak (Anteprima 2015). | 2014 A little on the dry side but has a core of clear red fruit with balanced if youthful tannins (Anteprima 2019). | 2015 13,000 bottles.

Other crops: 3ha of olives for Extra Virgin Olive Oil. 12ha of land for sowable crops (‘seminativo’) and 20ha of woodland which connects with the Fattoria dei Barbi estate. Grappa. A liqueur called ‘Rosolio’.
